PECOM and Movistar promote Digital Connectivity in Vaca Muerta

Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at promoting comprehensive services based on digital communications that guarantee greater efficiency in oil and gas production in Vaca Muerta and the rest of the Neuquén river basin.

PECOM and Telefonía Móviles Argentina S.A. (MOVISTAR) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) intended to provide different Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services in a joint and integrated manner, after the construction of new infrastructure in Vaca Muerta and the Neuquén river basin, that reaches the provinces of Neuquén, Río Negro, La Pampa and Mendoza.

The undersigning of the MOU consolidates the bases for the analysis and agreements necessary to provide comprehensive services based on digital communications to obtain better efficiency in the production of gas and oil in Vaca Muerta and the Neuquén river basin.

“We are very enthusiastic about this joint initiative. The background, experience and history of both companies drive us to develop an innovative project that will place Vaca Muerta at the forefront of technology and connectivity”, stated Javier Gremes Cordero, PECOM CEO.

The project contemplates investments and infrastructure works, the implementation of a network of Fiber Optic connectivity, and coverage with LTE Communications (Private Communications over public domain –called 4G–, Communications with high bandwidth, critical traffic, Video, Operation monitoring Systems, important volume of data).

Likewise, it encompasses IoT Communication (Internet of things, designed for the communication of any simple device, at a low cost and for the monitoring of non-critical data), B2B and B2C data traffic, supply of services of network Operation and maintenance (FO and Macrocells), among other services intended for the fields set in Vaca Muerta and the Neuquén river basin.
